Smoother breaking down and finer polishing
If you feel that the PW-160 tapered composite honing wheel is slightly too aggressive or are looking for an even more polished bevel, you can moisten it. While the machine is running, hold a damp cloth or sponge against the unraveling disc, without pressing. This preparation produces a smoother honing and a finer polish.
For the sharpest, longest lasting results
You use the PW-160 conical composite honing wheel after sharpening your knife on the diamond wheel. The honing process removes the morfil formed during the sharpening process and polishes the new bevel of the blade. Razor sharpness is achieved by de-milling. In addition, it produces a more durable edge.
You can also use the PW-160 Tapered Composite Sharpening Disc for maintenance purposes between sharpenings, to realign the edge of a slightly dull knife. When the honing wheel no longer gives you the same edge, resharpen the blade on the diamond wheel to give it a new, uniform bevel. The PW-160 conical composite honing disc comes standard with the Tormek T-2 Pro Kitchen Knife Sharpener and Tormek T-1 Kitchen Knife Sharpener.
